Estonian leaders offer condolences to Japan over knife attack ({{commentsTotal}})

Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves and Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas offered their condolences to Japan after a deadly mass stabbing incident at a disabled care home claimed at least 19 lives.

"I was saddened to learn about the attack in the care center for people with mental disabilities in the city of Sagamihara," Ilves stated in his message to Emperor Akihito. "Estonians' thoughts are with those who lost their loved ones and were injured, and with the people of Japan. We stand with you on this dark day."

Rõivas took to social media to offer sympathies to his Japanese colleague Shinzō Abe and the people of Japan. "Senseless attack against disabled people in Sagamihara care center," he wrote. "My sincere condolences to PM @AbeShinzo and the people of Japan."

At least 19 people were killed in a stabbing spree at the Tsukui Lily Garden care center in Sagamihara, west of the capital city of Tokyo, on Tuesday morning, while an another 25 people were injured, 20 of them seriously.

The suspect turned himself into police.
