Center MP Dmitrijev's driver's license suspended for four months ({{commentsTotal}})

The Police and Border Guard Board's (PPA) North Prefecture sentenced Dmitrijev to a 1,000 euro fine and driver's license suspension of four months for a misdemeanor traffic offense in which he caused a car accident after which he was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The punishment has already entered into force.

At approximately 1:02 a.m. on January 7th, 2016, Dmitri Dmitrijev member drove a Subaru Legacy off the road and against some tree stumps at a T-shaped intersection in the western Harju County village of Pedase. Paramedics thereafter transported the intoxicated driver to the North Estonia Medical Centre in Tallinn.

As experts recorded a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.15 after his accident, the Prosecutor General opened criminal proceedings against the MP. Soon thereafter, however, the proceedings had to be called off as during the pre-trial procedure Dmitrijev claimed that he had only consumed alcohol after the accident had already ocurred.

Police still chose to proceed with investigating the accident as a misdemeanor case.
