A total of 26 lives were claimed by fires from January to July of this year according to Estonian Rescue Board statistics.

In Estonia, only one life was lost due to a fire during the month of July, while the total number of lives claimed by fires during the first seven months of 2016 totaled 26, figures available from the Rescue Board show.

The only fire to claim a life in July was in Ida-Viru County in Northeastern Estonia.

During the first seven months of 2015, a total of 32 people lost their lives in fires across the country.
