30 Vietnamese sent out of Estonia at cost of 4,500€ per person
Dozens of Vietnamese citizens have arrived in Estonia illegally since the beginning of 2016. The most recent to arrive, the 30th this year, was put on a plane back to Vietnam on Wednesday.
As Vietnam is far away and plane tickets are expensive, an eye is kept out for good deals in order to get the tickets as cheaply as possible. In addition to the cost of flights, money must also be spent on deporting officials' visas, housing, per diem allowances, travel insurance as well as other expenses, reported Estonian daily Postimees (link in Estonian).
The Estonian Police and Border Guard Board (PPA) has calculated that last year, an average of approximately 4,500 euros in expenses were incurred per illegally arrived Vietnamese citizen.
During the first half of 2016, Estonia saw a total of 111 illegal immmigration cases involving 199 individuals, quickly catching up to the respective totals of 144 and 239 for all of 2015.
