Grandson of former Estonian communist leader appointed head of Putin's presidential administration ({{commentsTotal}})

Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed Sergei Ivanov from his position as Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office, appointing Russian diplomat and politician Anton Vaino to replace him.

Ivanov was appointed the Russian president's Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport, Reuters reported.

Speaking in a televised address, Putin announced that Ivanov stepped down from the position voluntarily and personally recommended Vaino to replace him in the position.

Anton Vaino, who in 1972 was born to Karl Vaino's son Edward in Tallinn, had worked as Ivanov's deputy chief of staff since 2012

His grandfather, Karl Vaino, was the second-to-last First Secretary of the Communist Party of Estonia, serving as such from 1978-1988.
