Elektrilevi invests €39.4m in first half of 2016 ({{commentsTotal}})

Estonian state-owned electricity distribution network operator Elektrilevi invested a total of 39.4 million euros during the first six months of 2016.

For the money invested, a total of 1,072 kilometers, or over 665 miles, of weatherproof power lines were installed, 117 new substations were built, and 76,949 remote-read power meters were installed across Estonia.

Almost half of the amount invested, or 18.4 million euros, was spent on reconstructing the power network and ensuring the security of operations; 12.2 million euros was spent on installing remote-read meters and 8.8 million euros spent on building connection points and carrying out customer orders, reported Elektrilevi.

During these six months, the total length of Elektrilevi's bare-wire overhead network was reduced by 1,141 kilometers, or 709 miles, and by the end of the period, 75 percent of the company's low-voltage network and 27 percent of its medium-voltage network was weatherproof.
