A total of more than 143,000 children and youth, or an increase of 3,000 students compared to the previous year, began or continued attending school in Estonia this Sept. 1, which is celebrated across the country as the Day of Knowledge. The total number of children beginning 1st grade still remains a total of 20,000 pupils smaller than ten years ago, however.
