Nomination of presidential candidates in electoral college begins
Nomination of presidential candidates for the first round of voting in the electoral college will open at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
Candidates can be nominated from 9 a.m. Tuesday until 6 p.m. Thursday, the National Electoral Committee said on Monday.
A candidate needs 21 electors' votes for nomination. Each member of the electoral body can nominate only one candidate.
The National Electoral Committee will then gather at noon on Friday to register the candidates.
Siim Kallas and Mailis Reps, the two candidates who received the most votes in the third round of voting in the Riigikogu, advanced directly into the first round in the electoral college.
The first ballot round in the electoral college will begin at noon on Saturday, Sept. 24. If necessary, a second round will be held at 4 p.m.
