SDE, IRL not planning to spare Center Party from critique in Tallinn
Although Estonia's Social Democratic Party (SDE) and the Pro Patria and Res Publica Union (IRL) are now coalition partners with the Center Party on the national level, they still remain in the opposition in Tallinn and do not intend to hold back critique if they find that something is wrong.
"I confirm that when it comes to the Tallinn group of Social Democrats, critique against inappropriate and unreasonable use of money won't die down in Tallinn," Hanno Matto, a member of the SDE group in Tallinn City Council told BNS on Tuesday, adding that what the SDE and IRL did on the national level needed to be done in the capital city in ten months as well, referring to the local elections to take place in Estonia next fall.
"The [Reform] Party thought that it is the state that is resting," he continued. "The [Center] Party thinks it is the capital city which should be benched."
Chairman of the Tallinn City Council IRL group Madis Kübar told BNS that the opposition between IRL and the Centrist leaders in Tallinn was not between specific persons, but IRL was not happy with how the city is being led.
"The city council's IRL group still believes that spending taxpayers' money on Tallinn TV and the newspapers Pealinn and Stolitsa must stop," Kübar noted.
