Survey: Estonians trust police, defense forces most, politicians least
People in Estonia trust the police, the Estonian Defence Forces and television the most, the results of a survey commissioned by the European Commission and conducted by Kantar Emor show.
On Tuesday, survey results were revealed regarding Estonians’ attitudes towards the EU, but also themselves and their state, reported ETV news broadcast "Aktuaalne kaamera."
A total of 80 percent of Estonian residents were satisfied or fairly satisfied with their own lives, while 20 percent were not.
47 percent of Estonians rated the Estonian state’s economic state as good while 48 percent rated it as bad.
47 percent of people likewise considered health and social security-related issues to be the biggest problem in the country, while 33 percent found economy-related issues and 24 percent found unemployment to be the greatest problem.
The survey also rated Estonians’ trust in the country’s various institutions, revealing that people trusted the police (80 percent), the Estonian Defence Forces (79 percent) and television (65 percent) the most and the Riigikogu (34 percent), political parties (12 percent) the least. Social media was also regarded as rather untrustworthy, with just 20 percent of people trusting it.
One thousand Estonian residents participated in this survey.
