Tallinn City Transport's plans to redirect traffic on Gonsiori street make it harder to access the Torupilli shopping center, and the Kaubamaja group is threatening to sue because of reduced accessibility to its property.

The city's transport agency announced plans on July 21 to make Gonsiori a one-way street (except for public transport) leading into the city. Cars heading for Lasnamäe at the end of the day must leave the city through Kunderi street, making it more complicated for commuters finishing work to run shopping errands in the Torupilli center.

Kaubamaja's management member Peeter Kütt said large investments were made to acquire and develop the Torupilli property, which borders Gonsiori street. He said the company expects people to easily access the shopping center when heading home from work, reported Eesti Päevaleht.

Tallinn City Transport chief Andres Harjo said in response that the center can be accessed from the Laulupeo or Vilmsi streets and that city development cannot be hindered by commercial enterprises.

"Tallinn City Transport chief Andres Harjo said in response that the center can be accessed from the Laulupeo or Vilmsi streets and that city development cannot be hindered by commercial enterprises." The priorities of Big Government unveiled, once and for all! What do we care about maintain jobs in the private sector, but let's keep spending on so called public "city development" by squeezing the private sector through taxes in particular for killing their business through phony highway engineering. Killing your sponsor's business just doesn't make any sense, unless you want The Nanny State, where Big Government means to decide on behalf of you and me what is the real deal! So please, please, please leave all self-preservation or self-thinking at the door, as there is no need to think for yourself, the government knows what is best for everyone, from the cradle to the grave.

Lets see, you want businesses to come and open and operate and serve the citizens in the city center and then you do stuff to improve improve things without regard to the effects that has on these businesses. That ain't good city development , but you don't need an old geezer in America to tell you that. Or do you?

Andres Harjo is doing nothing but hindering city development with his soviet attitude and ideological traffic experiments.
