Lux Express to operate domestic Russian routes this summer
Estonian bus operator Lux Express is set to begin operating regular domestic services in Russia — specifically, Saint Petersburg-Moscow and Saint Petersburg-Pskov routes — this summer, reported daily Postimees.
"We are still planning on getting to Russian domestic routes this summer," Lux Express CEO Hannes Sarapuu said. On the Saint Petersburg-Moscow route, an overnight bus would run once daily in either direction, while the Saint Petersburg-Pskov route would be served by several departures daily.
"We have the line permits," the CEO noted, adding that a few technicalities still remain unresolved. "We are now working on getting things going with summer in mind."
The company would run the two routes via its Russian subsidiary. "In a sense, this is a test for us too, which is why we aren't eager to bet our arm or leg on this," he said.
Sarapuu added that regarding himself, he would not be continuing as CEO of Lux Express beyond Sept. 1
"I have managed a very rapidly changing and growing business in a dynamic and highly competitive environment for more than ten years now," Sarapuu said, adding that he needed some time to rest.
