A total of 111,000 museum visits were made during the 9th annual nationwide Night of Museums in Estonia on Saturday, narrowly breaking the 2015 attendance record for the one-night event.

201 museums, archives, galleries and other history- and memory-related sites including art, dairy, bicycle, cement and natural history museums, castles, observatories and lookout towers opened their doors to visitors for the Night of Museums on Saturday, many with special programs for the evening.

Last year, slightly over 106,000 museum visits were paid during the 2016 edition of the event.

The Night of Museums is organized by Estonian museums and the Estonian Museum Association.
