Ratas to promote Estonian EU presidency in Greece, Cyprus
Prime Minister Jüri Ratas is visiting Greece and Cyprus on Monday in order to promote the upcoming Estonian presidency of the Council of the EU, which will begin in just over one month.
Ratas will meet in Athens with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. Later in the day he will travel on to Nicosia, Cyprus, where he is scheduled to meet with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades, according to a government press release.
"Visiting member states ahead of the EU presidency is a good way to introduce to colleagues the priorities of our presidency but also hear about other countries' expectations and thoughts for the upcoming half a year," Ratas said. "We will talk about key issues for Estonia and the country being visited, but also for the EU."
Ratas is scheduled to return to Estonia on Monday night.
