Supreme Court Not to Hear Appeal of Public Accountant's Extradition to US
The Supreme Court decided today not to hear the appeal of former Ernst & Young senior consultant Marko Rudi, upholding the legitimacy of his extradition to the US last August on fraud-related charges.
Rudi's attorney Helmeri Indela argued that the government's decision was not permissible because the statute of limitations on Rudi's crimes had expired in Estonia as of last April.
Rudi challenged the government extradition order last August in administrative court, asking for a stay of extradition under provisional legal protection. The administrative court ruled in Rudi's favor but the District Court overruled the ruling on August 24 and Rudi was on a plane the next day.
