Rhinoceros born at Tallinn Zoo
Tallinn Zoo's hooked-lipped rhinoceros Kibibi gave birth to a calf last Saturday, the zoo announced on Wednesday.
The director of the Tallinn Zoo, Tiit Maran, confirmed to the Baltic News Service that the baby rhinoceros was born on Saturday, but didn't offer any more information.
The zoo's former long-time director, Mati Kaal, told daily Postimees that this marked the first time that a rhinoceros was born at the Tallinn Zoo, as well as at any zoo in the territory of the former Soviet Union.
The calf was born on June 3 at 3:09 p.m.
There are two adult rhinoceroses, Kibibi and Kigoma, at the Tallinn Zoo.
