It sounds straight out of Dr. Seuss or a dream vision: dancers dancing their way down Estonian roads for eight days and nights.

Teatetants (Relay Dance), one of the most unusual events of the Capital of Culture festivities, will take place in real life, however, from August 20 to 28.

Close to 1,000 kilometers will be covered. The dancers will be accompanied by specially marked escort cars.

A special stage will also be constructed on a truck's flatbed for the use of the band.

Conceived by Kalev Järvela, the project intends to draw public attention to Estonia's dance traditions and provide an open venue for all willing participants.

A total of 6,200 dancers have registered for Relay Dance.
