Library in the Park Returns to Tartu
An open-air library will again be open in downtown Tartu as the central meeting point for the Prima Vista literature festival that opens today.
The library, with newspapers for reading and books for browsing and even lending, and public internet access, is almost like an extension of the city library, which helped organize the impromptu branch. Mornings will feature children's activities and evenings, concerts and cinema.
An installation produced by students from the University of Tartu painting department will also be on display.
Taking the stage on May 5 will be an accordion band followed in the evening by singer-songwriter and poet inBoil. May 6 will see Maarja Kangro and Justin Petrone take the stage accompanied by Martti Raide and Raivo Hool. Other performers include Aapo Ilves, Tuuli Taul, Vahur Afanasjev and Jürgen Rooste.
The film screened on May 6 will be German director Chris Kraus's award-winning "The Poll Diaries," which was co-produced and shot in Estonia.
