Agreement With Energy Unions Staves Off Strike
The second of two trade unions who represent Narva Power Plant workers agreed to sign a new collective contract on Tuesday, completing the process.
The Independent Union of Miners and Energy Workers assented to the new terms two weeks ago and the Narva Engineers Union, which represents the remaining 350 energy workers, out of 554, agreed to the conditions yesterday, reported ETV.
The new conditions will mean a nine percent rise in salaries with a maximum 112 percent performance pay annually. Overtime will be compensated 1.8 times the usual pay.
The agreement also means that a emergency meeting of trade union members, that was to be held on Saturday, will not go ahead.
The contract will be signed by the three parties; the two unions and Narva Power Plant, which is a subsidiary of the state-owned Eesti Energia, and will run until the end of 2014.
