Poll: Estonians 2nd Most Optimistic on EU Recovery
Estonians show the second most positive attitude in the EU regarding the bloc's economic prospects, with 64 percent of people believing that the crisis has passed its peak and will no longer influence the labor market, a recent survey by Eurobarometer reveals.
The country with most faith in the economic upturn is Denmark (68 percent), while the third place is held by Austria (62 percent).
In total, 43 percent of Europeans think that the recession will no longer impact the job market, which is 15 percent more than in 2009.
The best policy for improving the overall economic situation is to tighten cooperation between the member states, a total of 79 percent of the Europeans polled responded.
"People believe that the EU is taking effective measures against the crisis and we are back on the path of recovery," said Viviane Reding, Vice President of the European Commission.
While the general trend in the EU is positive, countries that are still facing recession are skeptical about the economic growth. In both Portugal and Greece around 80 percent believe that the worst is yet to come.
