Nearly Half of Firms Planning to Hire
A survey conducted by the recruitment company CV-Online has found that 45 percent of employers plan to take on new staff in the coming six months.
The result doesn't mean that a massive drop in unemployment is in the offing, however, as the same poll taken a year ago showed that 70 percent of firms reported intentions of hiring, CV-Online board member Agu Vahur said in a release.
"I think that in 2012 we will see a balancing of supply and demand on the labor market," he said.
Of those companies planning to hire in the coming half year, 77 percent said they would add just one or two staff members to their ranks. Those hoping to hire more than 10 workers make up only 3 percent of the hiring total.
The survey found that the seven sectors with the highest labor demand in the short term are manufacturing, services, real estate and construction, transport, retail sales, IT and technical work.
The poll, conducted in November, included data from over 150 respondents.
