Tallinn Opens Its Own Employment Office
Combating joblessness by making work for idle hands, Tallinn is opening a city employment agency that will help coordinate the filling of around 2,000 subsidized city positions.
"To more effectively coordinate the subsidized employment program, an employment office will be opened as part of the municipal Enterprise Board," said Tallinn deputy mayor Eha Võrk, explaining that two specialists would help with referrals for candidates and provide recommendations for those interested in temporary positions in fields such as groundskeeping, social welfare and public transport. A database will also be set up with information on both applicants and job openings.
