Foxes Cause Water Outage on Island
Two foxes caused a three-hour water outage in the Orissaare municipality on the island of Saaremaa after short-circuiting a power substation supplying a nearby pump station.
The incident took place on Friday evening, Saarte Hääl reported.
According to the paper, the foxes were hunting for a cat, who took refuge in the substation, climbing inside through a hole in the floor. The feline managed to escape the building without getting hurt, while the foxes were found electrocuted.
"I have no idea how [the foxes] got in there, but I remember a case when a cat once caused a short-circuit at a Kuressaare substation," said Villord Laul, a specialist for the distribution grid operator Jaotusvõrk AS, adding that such incidents were very rare.
