Patrick Brings Record High Temperatures, Downed Power Lines
Another watery winter storm erased what little white Christmas there was, with temperatures rising to 9 degrees C.
Close to 50,000 households were still without power on the morning of December 27. There were no reported injuries, but the storm was more destructive than previous weather events this year.
Water in the resort town of Haapsalu rose over the promenade in places. Tragedy was courted in Tartu, when scaffolding toppled on to around 20 cars.
The damage was worst in Tallinn and northern Estonia, said Ivika Aman, spokesperson for the Rescue Board.
Temperatures were around 9 degrees around the Gulf of Riga, eclipsing previous marks of between 7 and 8.
After a brief cooldown, temperatures rose early on the morning of December 27, with readings of over 11 degrees in Western Estonia.
