Electric Bike Rental Service Launched in Tartu
Estonia's second city, Tartu, now has a electric powered bicycle rental service.
Currently there is only one place to rent the bikes - near Town Hall Square - but that could be expanded into a network if it proves successful and even exported to other towns.
Kalle Kahk, the head of the project, told ERR radio that the bikes have been used for travelling for a swim, and the 10 bikes have been in constant use. The electric bicycles have three wheels and can be ridden standing up.
The city is planning to boost the popularity of bicycles in the city with EU funds and is currently in the process of drawing up an action plan.
