President of Finland Tarja Halonen, who is nearing the end of her term as head of state, will be in Estonia on January 30.

President Toomas Hendrik Ilves will host a lunch in her honor in the Kadriorg residence. The presidents will hold a press conference in Kadriorg at midday. Halonen is also scheduled to meet with Speaker of Parliament Ene Ergma.

Topics on the agenda include bilateral relations as well as a wide range of European Union issues, notably the current situation in the Eurozone and the EU’s next financial perspective.

Regional cooperation, including co-operation in the energy and transport sectors and in implementing the Baltic Sea Strategy, will also be discussed. Developments in the Middle East and Northern Africa will top the list of international discussion points.
