Politicians, Experts Discuss Future of Energy in Tallinn
Politicians and scientists of six nations are gathering in Tallinn today to discuss whether a future without nuclear power is possible.
Representatives from Finland, Sweden, Germany and the Baltic states are attending the International Conference on Europe’s Energy Supply Today And Tomorrow. Other main topics discussed at the gathering are innovation in the sector, affordable energy supplies and national energy security policies.
The opening speech will be given by President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek.
Presentations will be made by the deputy chairman of the Economic Affairs Committee of the Finnish Parliament Marjo Matikainen-Kallström; chairman of the Nuclear Energy Committee of the Lithuanian Parliament Rokas Zilinskas; and head of the Climate and Renewable Resources Department of the Latvian Environment Ministry, Valdis Bisters.
In addition to Estonian experts, presentations will be made by Wolfgang Eichhammer, researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI in Germany; Kevin Rosner, editor of the Journal of Energy Security; and Olof Ehrenkrona, adviser to the Swedish foreign minister .
