Security Guards to Patrol Some Tallinn Trams in Light of Complaints
Responding to a spike in public disorder complaints from passengers, Tallinn's transport department has assigned two security guards to patrol the No. 1 and No. 2 trams heading to and from the city's Kopli district.
The guards from USS Security will begin riding along on trams today, a press release from Tallinn City Transport said.
Tram drivers have recently been averaging 15-20 calls per month for security assistance.
The transport agency used patrol guards last fall as well.
The Kopli trams tend to have a reputation for being unsanitary and having a high number of alcohol-related incidents.
