Press Photographers Announce Mass Photography Minute
The minute from 13:00 to 13:01 on February 24, Independence Day, is planned as a time for taking pictures of people, places and things country-wide to document Estonia at the moment that it turns 95.
The event will be repeated five years from now; and an exhibition and album produced, said the Association of Press Photographers, which is organizing the project with support from the Government Office.
Anyone in Estonia, including tourists, are invited to upload (www.eestiminut.ee) or e-mail ([email protected]) their photographs by February 28.
The photographs can be either candid or posed, but participants are asked to think about what be of "time capsule" value for people looking at the shots years from now.
"It doesn’t matter whether you’re in the woods or working, sitting at a luncheon banquet or doing chores around the house - take a picture and send it to us. If you wish, you can stage the scene in advance and think about what to photograph on this important day in Estonian history," said a press release from the Government Office.
"Grab your smartphones, point-and-shoot cameras and old SLRs and go out and make history," the release said.
Copyrights to the uploaded pictures will be retained by the photographers, but no royalties will be paid. The organizers pledge not to use the photographs outside the bounds of the project, but if such a need should arise, the author will be contacted directly.
