Tallinn Mourns Jews Deported to Estonia During WW II

On May 9, a memorial gathering was held in front of Tallinn's former Patarei prison to commemorate the deportation of nearly 900 French Jews during World War II.
From 1942 to 1944, over 60,000 Jews were deported from the Drancy concentration camp in France to concentration camps in Poland. One echelon - convoy No. 73, which was escorting 878 prisoners - was sent to the Baltic states on May 15, 1944, reported ETV.
600 of those prisoners were taken to Kaunas, Lithuania, and nearly 300 brought to Tallinn, where. Only 22 survivors were able to return to France in 1945.
