The country's top girls' professional tennis player Anett Kontaveit expressed satisfaction with her good run at the US Open last week, which fell just short of the trophy with a loss to America Samantha Crawford yesterday.

Kontaveit (WTA 480th) lost 7-5, 6-3 to Crawford (393rd) but it came after impressive results up through the brackets, the first appearance by an Estonian in the finals of the junior draw of the US Open.

"My opponent played very good tennis. She's the type of energetic player and everything worked for her technically. She was able to keep on the attack," Kontaveit, 16, told Postimees.

"Of course I would have liked to win, but I played a very good tournament and showed some good tennis, including beating the top seed in the juniors."

In the quarterfinals on September 7, Kontaveit upset Taylor Townsend, 6-4, 6-4.
