Border guard officer commits suicide after pedophilia charge
A senior border guard officer shot himself with a service gun at Haapsalu police station Thursday afternoon, after being presented with a search warrant. The man was being investigated on suspicion of sexual explotation of minors.
The 38-year-old shot himself in the head after internal investigation officers came to the station and outline the case against him, police chief Elmar Vaher told ETV.
The officer was taken to hospital but died of his injuries a few hours later.
Police has launched an investigation into the incident. Internal investigation to the man's alleged crime will also continue.
