Academy of Arts Opens House
A four-day art and design festival Rundgang: Open Houses and Courtyards, which exhibits the most recent works by students of the Estonian Academy of Arts, starts in downtown Tallinn on June 9.
Paintings, sculptures, fashion design and many other forms of art will be highlighted at workshops and improvised cafes and galleries during the festival, giving outsiders an opportunity to witness and be part of the academy's life, according to the organizers.
Visitors will also have a chance to meet with the young artists and engage in discussions of their works.
Rector Signe Kivi will deliver the festival's opening speech, followed by a concert in the courtyard of the academy's current temporary main building on Estonia Puiestee, opposite the National Opera. Jazz, chamber and electro music performances will be heard throughout the festival, given both by students of the academy and backup forces from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.
