Academy's Jewelry Designers to Open Major Exhibition in Israel
Students and faculty of Jewelry and Blacksmithing Department of the Academy of Arts will open an exhibition at the Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art in Tel Aviv on May 10.
The exhibition, which will run through May 31, is so far the largest event to showcase Estonian jewelry art to an international public.
In total 150 students, faculty members and alumni will be showing their last 10 years' work.
The aim of the exhibition is to introduce the theme of rituals in Estonian jewelry art and through that, the spirituality of the cultural landscape, according to the academy.
On May 8, head of the department, professor Kadri Mälk and internationally noted Estonian jewelry designer Tanel Veerne will deliver a lecture on Estonian modern jewelry art at the college. A five-day workshop on a similar topic is also on the agenda.
