Share of Estonian Music on Radio to Increase
According to the Ministry of Culture, the share of Estonian music played on radio stations must increase to at least a quarter of their program.
Indrek Ibrus, a specialist at the ministry of culture, said that the rules for the licenses handed out in a new tender require that at least a quarter of music on air must be created by Estonian authors. The previous licenses also required promoting Estonian authors but the new phrasing takes into account works of music specifically, the ministry announced in a press release today.
Additionally, the day-time programs on local life on regional radio stations working outside Tallinn must make up at least 5 percent of the output.
The licence competition is organized by the Technical Surveillance Authority.
