Tartu Indiefest to kick off the outdoor festival season this weekend
Taking place from May 21 to 23, this year's Tartu Indiefest is set to host alternative artists from Estonia, Austria, Sweden and England.
Providing a potential escapade for those seeking to avoid the Eurovision mania this weekend, Tartu Indiefest offers a vibrant program of artists performing at the Kalevi Street Park as well as various indoor venues over the course of three days.
The electronic producer/musician Billy Lloyd takes the stage at Genclub (Genialistide klubi) on Friday night, whilst the energetic Austrian outfit GIN GA are slated to perform at the Kalevi St Park on Saturday, having previously warmed Estonian audiences at Tallinn Music Week in 2014.
The line-up also includes a variety of Estonian musicians, ranging from the distinct post-punk of Junk Riot to the dreamy synth pop of Zebra Island, with homegrown rockers Ans. Andur closing the festival by debuting their new album "Öine Bingo" ("Night Bingo") at Genclub on Saturday night.
The festival program also includes stand-up performances, courtesy of Comedy Estonia.
The alternative culture festival takes place in Tartu for the third year in a row, seeking to showcase both well-known and emerging artists from Estonia as well as abroad.
