Lutheran Church Boots Gay Clergyman
Consistory of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church divested the founder of Gay Christian Society, pastor emeritus Heino Nurk, from office last week, and deleted his name from the clergy list.
Church authorities hold Nurk responsible for breaching two sections of the church's statutes and spreading false doctrines, reported kristlased.ee.
Nurk has been a pastor since 1983. In August, he became one of the founders of the Gay Christian Society, with the aim of promoting equal treatment of sexual minorities in the society and church circles.
