National Geographic Soon To Be Published in Estonian
The first Estonian-language issue of National Geographic magazine will hit newsstands in October, the National Geographic Society, one of the world’s largest non-profit research and education organizations, has announced.
An affiliate of the Lithuanian publishing house Alma Littera, AlmaliEst, will manage the translation, printing and distribution of the magazine, which will be based on the original English-language version.
Erkki Peetsalu, a University of Tartu journalism graduate with 20 years of experience on the local media landscape, has been appointed as editor-in-chief of the monthly periodical. In recent years, Peetsalu has also been active in promoting environmental awareness and contributing to civil society initiatives.
The first issue of National Geographic was published in 1888, and the magazine has since gained popularity for its in-depth articles related to culture, nature, science and technology. It is currently printed in 32 langauges and has over 60 million readers worldwide.
