One of the world's best known music, film and interactive festivals, South by Southwest, annually held in Austin, Texas, has announced that this year's lineup will include Junk Riot, a post-punk band from Tallinn.

The band was formed in 2006 but only released its debut album "Headache" in 2014. The album received critical acclaim both in local and international media, and the tracks have been played on college radio stations in the US. Junk Riot has previously played at major Baltic festivals like Positivus and Õllesummer, and shared the stage with acts like White Lies, MØ, Temples and Mono.

"Their sound, originally influenced by indie and garage bands popular at the time, is based on high-pitched vocals, FX-heavy guitars and disco beats has lately moved into darker post-punk and coldwave, becoming more electronic, tense and melancholic," says the festival's homepage.

The band consists of Vadim Ivanov (vocals, guitar), Viktor Pavlov (guitar, synthesizer), Julian Zainullin (bass, synthesizer), and Kirill Nikiforov (drums, percussion, electronics).

According to the info on the band's Facebook page, the concert is scheduled for March 20.

South by Southwest (SXSW) takes place each year in mid-March in Texas. It was first held in 1987. Alongside music and film, the event includes conferences, trade shows and other events.
