Rein Rannap Opens Glasperlenspiel Festival
The six-day Glasperlenspiel (‘The Glass Bead Game’) festival began in Tartu's St. John Church on Thursday with the premiere of Rein Rannap's "La Sagrada Familia."
Around 100 performers will take the stage, including soloists, ensembles, orchestra players, conductors and composers, reported ERR radio.
Famous performers include Estonian pianist Kalle Randalu, flute player Massimo Mercelli, American artist and composer Mark Kostabi, Danish harpsichordist Lars Ulrik Mortensen, and violinist Anna-Liisa Bezrodny.
The festival, which goes from July 19 to 24, features bold world-class projects at the intersection of modern and classical music, merging, for instance, baroque and rock styles.
