Globe’s Production of Hamlet Comes to Estonia
London’s Globe Theater, on a world tour to celebrate the 450th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s birth on April 23, 2014, will give two performances of Hamlet in May in Tallinn and Tartu.
According to Linnateater and Vanemuine theaters, the performances are scheduled for May 16 in Tallinn and May 17 in Tartu, kultuur.err.ee reported on Monday.
The two-year tour will take the production "Globe to Globe Hamlet" to every country in the world and the plan is to perform it to 205 different nations. Directed by the Globe’s Artistic Director Dominic Dromgoole, the production is dynamic and the company is able to perform it in all locations, from city squares to small theater houses.
The production is also true to Elizabethan times - the performances are held in the daylight, with acoustic music and period costumes.
The audience will see the play the way it was performed in the 17th century, in Shakespeare-era English and Estonian subtitles. The duration is scheduled for 2 1/2 hours.
The tickets for Estonian performances will go on sale from April 1 in Piletimaailm, Piletilevi, and Linnateater and Vanemuine ticket offices. The prices will range from 20 to 30 euros.
More information on the project is available on the Globe’s website.
