Õunpuu Begins Shooting New Film
The film takes place in Saaremaa, on the edge of the Roukli oak grove, but Õunpuu refuses to release any other details, saying it is more theater than a classic scripted movie.
The only information revealed is an untranslatable Inuit concept of iktsuarpok - “That vague feeling of anticipation that leads you to keep looking outside to see if someone is coming. This restless longing is where our film begins. As to what comes next, here we keep silent. So as not to attempt to describe things that lack form and which would only become lies if put into words,” the project description reads.
Actors, including household names in Estonia such as Mirtel Pohla and Juhan Ulfsak, and Õunpuu have taken to the crowdfunding site hooandja.ee to raise funds for the film, which has a “end of 2014” deadline.
So far 234 people have pledged more than 10,000 euros, with a set goal of 15,000 euros. If you would like to support the project, click here for a video (English subtitles) and more information.
