'St. Tony' Wins Brussels Grand Prix
Director Veiko Õunpuu’s film "The Temptation of St. Tony" won the Grand Prix in the full-length fiction category at the Brussels International Festival of Fantasy, Thriller and Science Fiction Films which took place April 7 to 19.
Õunpuu's film follows the path of a middle-aged, mid-level manager whose life spins out of control as he loses grasp of what once was his reality.
The festival awarded six prizes in the European, international, full-length and short film categories, according to the Ministry of Culture.
In addition to Õunpuu's film, the program also included Estonian director Marko Raat's film "The Snow Queen."
According to Kadri Jauram, the Estonian culture representative in Brussels, this year’s festival program was characterized by the idea that people are their own worst enemies and unusual happenings start deep within the individual.
