Baltic Chamber Music Festival Underway in London
The Baltic music festival is taking place in London throughout the week. It consists of five concerts at the churches in Notting Hill and the Royal Academy of Music's David Josefowitz Recital Hall. The festival will present classical and contemporary music from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
The festival launched with an evening of Lithuanian composer Anatolijus Šenderovase on Sunday in Notting Hill St Peter's Church.
Music by the Estonian composers Heino Eller, Eduard Tubin, Jaan Rääts, Arvo Pärt and Tõnu Kõrvits will be performed by the EST Ensemble at St John's Church, Notting Hill, on Thursday at 13:00. The EST Ensemble (Kaija Lukas - violin, Marike Kruup - violin, Siret Lust - double bass, Mirjam Mesak - soprano, Kristiina Rokashevich – piano) was formed in 2012 by Estonian musicians who were studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
The Baltic Music Festival will finish with a "Young Baltic Talent" concert in David Josefowitz Recital Hall on Sunday, featuring Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian award-winning young professional instrumentalists from London's premier schools. This is a traditional annual concert, gathering young Baltic talents, organized by the Baltic Council in Great Britain.
The Baltic Music Festival is organized by the London “Santara-Šviesa” club, in collaboration with the Baltic Council in Great Britain and the Lithuanian Music Information and Publishing Center.
