Kertu Saks appointed new director of Cultural Endowment of Estonia
The Supervisory Board of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia has appointed Kertu Saks its new director; she will assume office on Nov. 14.
Saks was chosen from among 24 candidates for the position. According to Minister of Culture Indrek Saar, the candidate chosen for the position was someone with a great love of culture, competence as well as passion for that sector. Saar added that this was someone who is capable of seeing the bigger picture and who is interested in further developing Estonia's cultural landscape through the endowment.
"As director of the Cultural Endowment, I plan on studying what the role of the Cultural Endowment is today and devise [a plan] on what its role could be in another 20 years," said Saks. "The world is changing at a rapid pace and the Cultural Endowment has likewise changed a great deal since its reestablishment. This should be noted and changes should be consciously shaped."
Saks is a member of the board at the Tallinn Technology and Science Centre Foundation as well as director of the Energy Discovery Centre. She also has previous experience working as an editor at daily Eesti Päevaleht and as coordination director of the of the European Social Fund at the Estonian Ministry of Social Affairs.
