Jazzkaar Festival Returns With a Musical Vengeance
The nation's most prominent annual jazz festival, Jazzkaar, began setting stages alight over the weekend and over the coming days will be spotlighting the likes of US saxophone legend Charles Lloyd and pop jazz singer Gregory Porter.
Other headliners in this year's event are Zara McFarlane, a young soul jazz star from the United Kingdom, and piano virtuoso Hiromi Uehara of Japan.
The packed program includes activities for children as well as free, lunchtime concerts. The full schedule, as well as ticket information, can be found on the festival's website, www.jazzkaar.ee.
Though some shows are also taking place in Tartu, Viljandi and other towns, most of the activity is concentrated in Tallinn, where the custom-built Marina Pavilion near the city's passenger port is serving as the main venue.
The festival runs through April 28.
