Visual theater festival brings 22 performances from around the globe to Tallinn
This year's Tallinn Treff Festival for international visual theate will feature 22 shows by 19 troupes from Slovenia to Japan. The festival will take place on June 4-7.
The festival's children's program has shows from nine different countries, including a marionette theater from Russia, a colorful shadow theater from the Netherlands, and a live puppet animation from France. Vahur Keller, artistic director of the festival, said the chosen shows have "less words, more to watch, and everything is understandable."
The main performer of the adult's program is a Finnish-South Korean troupe WHS/Sungsoo Ahn with their show "Double Exposure," a visually entrancing spectacle about reaching for the ideal beauty through plastic surgery. The show ties in street dance, contemporary circus and shadow theater.
For the first time in its 9-year history, the festival includes performances by five Estonian theaters. All shows will be translated into English.
The festival, the tickets to which are already available, will take place at the beginning of June. It has been organized by the Estonian Puppet and Youth Theater since 2007. The program includes dance, drama, puppet theater performances and music concerts. It aims to introduce new forms of visual art and celebrate modern puppetry.
