Swedish-Estonian animated film to screen at Venice International Film Festival
Swedish-Estonian animated short "Amalimbo" has been chosen as part of the Orizzonti program of short films to be screened at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival, which will take place from August 31st through September 10th.
"Amalimbo" was written and directed by Juan Pablo Libossart, an Argentinian livin in Stockholm; its artist and lead animator was Estonian Roland Seer.
The 15-minute fantasy-genre film tells the story of Tipuana, a five-year-old girl who experiences "the limbo" when she tries to pass on to "the other side" in her desperate urge to mourn the recent death of her beloved father.
The 2D animated short was produced by Fasad and Fork Film.
The 73rd Venice International Film Festival will take place in Italy from August 31 to September 10. Previous Estonian films to be included in the Venice festival's program include Veiko Õunpuu's "Autumn Ball" in 2007 and Tanel Toom's "The Second Coming" in 2008.
