Estonian Culture Days Kick Off in Belgium
The culture days held in the Belgian city Liege, with an aim to introduce Tallinn as the 2011 European Capital of Culture, opened on March 2.
The month-long celebration got a kick start with a stage piece "Eight Japanese Kyogen" performed by the Tartu Student Theatre within the international RITU festival program at the Liege Royal University Theatre, according to ETV.
"Every year the theatre traditionally invites a variety of English, French and German guest performers but as we have tried to change our approach every year, participants from other countries have also been welcomed," said Robert Germay, director of the Liege Royal University Theatre.
Estonia first participated in the RITU festival in 2009, Germay added.
In the end of March, the Estonian embassy in Belgium will introduce Estonia's innovative e-governance, show director Priit Pärn's animation films and introduce Estonian cuisine in Liege.
