Eurovision Hopefuls Submit 157 Songs
The submissions deadline for the pre-Eurovision song contest “Eesti Laul” ended today with entries submitted by 157 contestants vying to represent Estonia in the 2013 Eurovision competition.
“Participants were especially precise this year, no song was admitted after the 15:00 [the deadline],” said Mart Normet, ETV’s head of entertainment programming.
A jury will determine on Thursday which of the 20 semifinalists will go head-to-head in a televised song competition. The semifinals will take place in February and the final in March.
Last year’s winner “Kuula” (Listen) by Ott Lepland beat Lenna Kuurmaa’s “Mina jään” (I'll Stay) in the final of Eesti Laul 2012, but finished sixth in the Eurovision competition in Baku, Azerbaijan.
